Liquid Telecom shortlisted in both Global Carrier Awards and World Communications Awards

Liquid Telecom today announced that it has been shortlisted in multiple categories in two separate global telecoms awards.

Firstly, Liquid Telecom is shortlisted in the following two categories at The Global Carrier Awards 2014:

  • The Best African Wholesale carrier – alongside Bharti Airtel, Internet Solutions and WIOCC. Liquid Telecom has won this accolade for the past two consecutive years.
  • Best African Project for its work in building the East Africa Fibre Ring – alongside projects from AMS-IX, Infinera, Ooredoo and World Telecom Labs.

The East Africa Data Centre, which is part of The Liquid Telecom Group, has also been shortlisted in the Best Data Centre category alongside Equinix, GTS Central Europe, Interxion and Telecity Group.

The Global Carrier Awards 2014 focus on the contribution of individuals, companies and technology partners that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of carrier services in the past 12 months. The awards are independently judged by a panel of telecoms analysts, industry experts and the senior editorial team of Capacity magazine. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Amsterdam on November 4.

Liquid Telecom has also been shortlisted in two categories at The World Communications Awards, described as "the leading awards for global telecom operators and service providers":

  • Best Wholesale Carrier – alongside BT, IDT, Interoute, Tata Communications, TeliaSonera International Carrier and Vodafone Carrier Services.
  • Best Operator in an Emerging Market - Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe is shortlisted alongside Idea Cellular, Movitel, Ooredoo, Roshan and Smart Communications.
