Meet the team

Mark Townsend

Chief Executive Officer

Mark Townsend is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Liquid Telecom Zambia. 
 
Mark joined the company on 14 April 2020. He was raised in Zambia and has a long-standing career working across the country's ICT sector. He has more than a decade of senior leadership experience, including three years as Director of Enterprise Business at MTN Zambia and leadership roles at AfriConnect (Vodacom Group). Before joining Liquid Telecom Mark was Managing Director at GardaWorld Zambia.
 
Mark is directly responsible for the leadership and strategic management of Liquid Telecom's business operations across Zambia. His arrival coincides with the company's next phase of growth - providing fast, reliable connectivity and digital services to more business and consumers across Zambia. This follows the successful launch of Liquid Fibre and Liquid Data-On-The-Go as part of the company's rebrand from Hai to Liquid Telecom in 2019.
Liquid Telecom Zambia has become one of the country's leading fibre network and mobile data solutions providers. Mark will continue to grow the business while also building on our relationships with key stakeholders including government, regulators, business partners and customers.

In his spare time, Mark enjoys the outdoors, including fishing. He also loves to watch football and is a huge Manchester United fan.

Mwendamo Mazaba

Chief Financial Officer

Mwendamo Mazaba is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Liquid Telecom Zambia. He is responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial activities, including funding, taxation, financial controls, preparation of management accounts, annual financial statements and management reports.
He has over 20 years’ experience in telecomns, banking, financial management and reporting, accounting, auditing, tax and advisory.
 
Before joining Liquid Telecom, Mwendamo held a number of senior positions, including Senior Audit Manager at KPMG South Africa, Senior Manager Budgeting and Reporting at Stanbic Bank Zambia, Head of Business Performance Management at Stanbic Bank Zambia, and Financial Controller at Stanbic Bank Zambia.
 
Mwendamo is a Chartered Accountant and has a master’s degree in Financial Management.

Mohammed Aijaz

Chief Commercial Officer

Mohammed Aijaz is the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for Liquid Telecom Zambia. He is responsible for driving the development and execution of our commercial strategy in order to achieve revenue targets and growth.
 
Mohammed Aijaz has experience working in Africa, Middle east and Asia, where he has helped drive sales into new markets and execute product strategies. He brings telecoms knowledge in retail mobile, wholesale voice and data, roaming and B2B enterprise.
 
Before joining Liquid Telecom, Mohammed held a number of key sales and commercial positions, including Global Aaccount Manager with Airtel Africa, GM Commercial with Airtel Nigeria and Senior Account Manager with Tata Communications.

Patricia Nyati

Head Legal and Regulatory/Company Secretary

Patricia Nyati is the Head of Legal and Regulatory at Liquid Telecom Zambia, as well as and Company Secretary to the Board of Directors. She ensures that the highest standards of compliance and corporate governance are adhered to in accordance with the company policies and Zambian Statutory and Legal Provisions.
 
Patricia is a qualified Legal Practitioner with over 7 years of experience in corporate and commercial law. She is also qualified in stock market and investment advisory as well as regulatory compliance management. 
 
Patricia holds an LLB Degree, as well as Stockbroker and Investment Advisory, Compliance Management and Commercial Law qualifications. She is currently pursuing specialisation in ICT/telecoms through a master’s degree in Technology, Media and Communications Law.

Monde Williey

Head Supply Chain Management

Monde Williey is responsible for the supply chain management function at Liquid Telecom Zambia and is a qualified procurement and supply practitioner with 20 years of experience. 
 
Monde has extensive experience in procurement, transport and logistics, strategic sourcing, warehousing and inventory, foreign procurement and contract management. She has held various positions, including Contracts and Supply Officer, CAPEX Buyer and Procurement Manager.
 
Monde has a Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Graduate Diploma and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  Monde is a full Member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MZIPS) and Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS).

 

Joseph Gondwe

Head of Human Resource and Administration

Joseph Gondwe is responsible for Liquid Telecom Zambia’s human capital strategy, which includes organisation performance, talent management and talent acquisition. He has over 16 years of experience in driving organisational performance and improving HR practices.
 
Before joining Liquid Teleom, Joseph worked on various Atlas Mara Group projects in Mozambique and also served as Country Head of Human Capital Atlas Mara in Zambia. He has held various other senior positions at MTN, Barclays Bank and Zoona.
 
Joseph has a degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Strategic Human Resources from Herriot University, and a mini MBA in Telecoms. He is also a graduate of the FLIGHT program from the Gordon Institute of Business/ University of Pretoria.

Michael Ketani

Chief Network Officer

Michael Ketani drives the technical strategy at Liquid Telecom Zambia. He oversees the planning, building and operating of our IT systems, national optic fibre and 4G networks. He is additionally charged with driving digitalisation across all customer facing and internal systems.
 
Michael joined Liquid Telecom from Airtel Networks Zambia, bringing more than 10 years’ experience at senior management level in network operations. He was instrumental in the commissioning of the country’s largest 4G network as well as transforming the network’s backhaul transmission from TDM to full IP.   He has held a variety of roles in IP network design, system administration, core network operations, intelligent network operations, VAS and product engineering.
 
He holds an engineering degree in Telecommunications from the University of Zambia and has attended Cisco training in backbone routing and network security, as well as 4G radio access network training provided by Qualcomm and the Telecom Academy.
