Broadband Terrestrial Connectivity
The Liquid Telecom Group is rolling out an optic fibre network across Southern Africa. This network provides broadband connectivity nationally and internationally across the sub continent and to the rest of the world through access to the growing number of sea cable systems terminating in the region. This network is designed with international redundancy ensuring the highest availability in support of a range of service levels.
KEY FEATURES
- Fully managed service 24/7.
- Lowest latency arising from terrestrial connectivity.
- High reliability.
- Service Level Agreements.
- Metro Ethernet and Gigabit Passive Optic Networks in larger cities.
SERVICE OVERVIEW
Liquid is developing a wide range of services for the optic fibre network. The current service bouquet includes Internet Access, Virtual Private Networks, Point-to-Point links and disaster recovery links. These services are available nationally and internationally with a wide range of options covering Connection Speed, Contention Ratio and Service Level. Services are fully managed according to the SLA with penalties for non performance and monthly reports.
Our network operations centre in Harare Zimbabwe with it’s backup site in London ensure that the network is maintained at peak performance at all times under all conditions.
Liquid is in a unique position to integrate satellite and optic fibre technology to provide seamless solutions for customers with sites in challenging locations. Main sites can be covered by optic fibre with the remote sites being covered by VSAT in one integrated offering.
The introduction by Liquid of Gigabit Passive Optic Network equipment in several large cities in the sub-continent is enhancing the user experience whilst reducing costs. This system overcomes challenges in the last mile between the network core and the customer with ultra-high speed capabilities and low-cost modems whilst supporting end-to-end management of the services.
LIQUID FIBRE FOOTPRINT
Liquid’s fibre network currently covers all the main cities in Zimbabwe and extends to Midrand and Isando in Johannesburg as well as Gaborone and Francistown in Botswana and Lusaka and the Copper Belt in Zambia. Liquid is working on extending this network into the DRC and other countries in the near future.
BENEFITS OF FIBRE OPTIC TRANSMISSION
Fibre optic cables offer extremely high bandwidth and do not suffer from fading and noise due to weather conditions like radio systems do. This means that the services carried on the fibre offer more bandwidth, are more reliable, offer better quality and the lowest latency. These features ensure that the services offered satisfy the most discerning customers. Fibre systems are expensive to deploy and maintain however prices fall dramatically as the user base grows. There is a world wide price reduction trend which will become evident in African networks in the near future once the user base begins to grow.
